Hi all
I know of a definate crash site of a 109. It is within 10 miles of Tibury. In 1941 or 43 when my dad was on leave from serving abroad, he and my mum were walking together.and they saw an me109 coming towards them. The plane belly flopped into an expanse of fresh water. It took my dad only a minute to get to the point of impact, but the plane had virtually dissapeared beneath the water with only a fuel slick showing. Both my parents scanned the surrounding skies but could see no parachute or any sign of anybody having landed in the surrounding fields. There was no sign of any British aircraft in the area whatsoever.
Over 25 yrs ago I informed an aviation archaeology club of this event and they told me they were not interested unless actual documentation of the plane being shot down could be found so I left it at that and did not tell them any details of the exact area.
I often wonder if it would be possible to locate this plane and was wondering if at sometime in the future anybody would be willing to help me. I may possibly have a financial backer although I am not interested in making any money from this at all. I know roughly where this plane came down to within an area of approx 300yrds x 100yrds.
Any help or suggestions would be appriciated. My e-mail adress is tony_keeble@yahoo.co.uk
Regards Tony
